IT IS FINISHED!
I got so frustrated last night, I said forget it, I'm BS'ing this entire essay. I mean it's got accurate historical information and commentary, but the structure, the flow, the essay makes no sense. I didn't even know what my thesis was until I typed half of it up.
I am so glad it's a half-day today, so glad it's finally the weekend.

PLEASE TALK TO ME, I'M BUSY
Is it just me, or are all my friends going to parties and hanging out with each other, and I'm not invited nor do I even realize it until later? =(
A glimmer of good news: Saturday i'm going to find out if my power supply is causing my computer problems. I learned never to trust generic products. But along with that comes more bad news.
I probably will end up spending almost $100 on a decent power supply. Not sure which brand I'll go with, but generic is out of the question.
More bad news, I'll be fortunate if I make it to the weekend with a 3 page essay due Friday in APUSH. It's one that Mrs. Ruff gave us a bunch of outlined notes and handouts in a period that we haven't gotten to with concepts we haven't even mentioned. Going to be hard, especially since I don't even know where to begin.
I just realized that besides my computer, this week we've had a broken DVD player, pool filter, and garage door opener.
REALLY, SOMEONE PLEASE TALK TO ME BEFORE I GO OUT OF MY MIND!!! =(

DEAD
I'm posting this from my other computer because the computer in my room with I put blood, sweat, money, and much attention to, seemed to die this afternoon. Can't determine the cause so it'll be sitting in a shop sometime this week. wonder if this is a sign from God telling me to get a life. if it is, i confess.
obviously because of this incident, I will not be on the computer as much for the next few days. After I get it fixed, i'll probably cut down on my computer use. I got too much other stuff, SAT's etc., eagle courts, independent study...
THE PENGUIN RULES ALL
I convinced about 400 ppl at school Friday that if you think smart, you'd only use Linux. I got quite a few cheers from that, so we're in good shape so far.
I was exploring RedHat some more and found out a lot about it. It's definitely better than Windows, since it's lasted 7 weeks straight without crashing or anything, while Windows lasted 9 days. The Linux kernel is also so much more powerful and organized that both Mac and Windows. It's amazing how Linus Toravalds could come up with something so original.
From my research on the internet and my tech club at school, I learned that MAC OS is basically a Linux clone modified to be more user friendly, and obviously sacrificed power and features for, DUH, a slicker UI. Sort've what Windows is doing, although they can't even get Server 2003 worked out. Wonder why the majority of supercomputers run on Linux servers... Reason that Apple is more popular is because Steve Jobs makes more money than Linus. Plus, he's American. Wouldn't pay $199 for the .1 OS revision. Not worth it at all.
I possibly will be getting a Mac soon, depending on availability.

THE TRUTH, THE REVELATION
Okay, I finally got some questions and confusions cleared up today. Here's what I found out:
1.) Early graduation is OUT OF THE PICTURE, sadly, but "skipping" a grade is not. I learned about Sophomore Standing, which is you get to enroll as a soph. at UC if you take enough college classes and pass enough AP exams and other tests. I asked about the exact number, she mentioned 6 which made me sort've gasp, but she didn't know off the top of her head since it doesn't happen at Valley. Good thing is, I'm taking and planning to take a good variety which may possibly be enough (given that I pass all my AP exams). So now that I know about that, I'll definitely shoot for that, pray extra hard, and hope I win. Hmm, if I take college courses, I got to take enough that I can get in as a soph. but not look like a transfer student...hmm...tough...confusing...
2.) SAT's and ACT's - Writing and IIC required this year. SAT recommended. ACT recommended. Also, CLEP tests can help you test out of college courses. My somewhat low 670 on Biology SAT II was called very respectable. I'll keep it.
3.) ATDP - best choice is probably AP gov. it'll allow me to possibly earn high school and college credit, so I can take econ. 1st semester next year, get out early 2nd sem. and take a college course.
4.) ELC - basically " marketing" technique. She says not to worry about it. If I make it, then good for me. If not, oh well.
seems my motto for the next year is going to be: "PRAY, PLAN, AND HOLD ON!"

EAGLETTERS ETC. UPDATE
Got lots of stuff going on in the past week. First was a letter from George H.W. Bush. Then was a letter from Secretary of State Colin Powell. Next, I got a tentative date set for my Eagle court so I'll aim for that day and plan everything around it. Wish me luck!

HACKED
I think my AOL account has been hacked into. For the past 2 weeks, I've received messages that my account is signed in at 2 places. At first I thought my g-pa hit a wrong button and signed on my account at his house, but it happened again yesterday, and he was signed on his SN. Also, yesterday, I received an email from AOL Games WITH MY AOL GAMES PASSWORD ON IT. I changed my SN. I'm going to check the log of when I signed on and track this guy's IP address. He'll be sorry he messed with me.

UBERPENGUIN
I've entered into a new mindset only reserved for true computer geeks...
FORGET WINDOWS! Better yet, forget them all... win, mac. The prevailing OS in the future is going to LINUX! That's why I've partitioned my 180 GB of hard drive space to reserve a spot for Red Hat Linux 9. It's going to be sooo great. Microsoft should die. Watch out Apple. The penguin rules all.

GONE HOME
My condolences to the Mowrer family on the passing of Mrs. Mowrer last week. She was the first Valley teacher I ever met and was a really great teacher, especially when I was a new, shy 4th grader. Though I am saddened by her passing, I am confident that I will see her again someday and that she is now safely home.

WEEKEND BOREDOM
How lazy! I should be packing for vacation tomorrow. And if not that, should be studying for my AP USH test on steroids! or SAT's! And here I am just sitting here, wondering what to do, no one to talk to. This is the weekend, right? I think...maybe....yeah...
UPDATE: oh yeah, forgot to mention I turned in my Software Champions Guide yesterday. The guide should be up in a couple of weeks. They say they'll publicize it the whole world in December. Can't wait...
FREAKING OUT
The more and more I think about school, the more and more I dislike it. Every little thing makes me nervous. Starting with SAT's tomorrow. I'm not taking it. I'm wondering if that was a poor decision and that I should've taken it to get more opportunities to score higher so I can have a good score for the ELC evaluations.
I read about the ELC evaluations and that made me nervous. I counted all the classes to make sure I had enough, then prayed that my grades look good by the end of the year, then fretted because A. Valley has a class of about 75 students, meaning I have to be #1,2, or 3 to be the 4% and B. The top student is really at the top only because his grade is excessively inflated due to AP and honors classes, even more inflated than mine, which matters when it comes to ELC. Then they mentioned summer classes, which I did not take, but the top student did, so I hit myself for not taking them. Then I fretted some more.
I'm not sure what to take next year, especially if I don't get accepted for ELC. (ELC doesn't look at extra stuff). Like I said, I've only got 3 required classes, so if Arnold doesn't hold true, then i'll be taking 2 useless classes. And then those two classes might make UC think I'm slacking, especially since I've got 8 classes this year, so I might have to take 2 or 3 more. And what happends if I can't get those classes in one block, if I do happen to attend community college? I fret some more...
ATDP? I got 3 periods next year, 2 can be completed using this program: social studies and English? u think my counselor will allow me to do that? if she doesn't then is there any advantage to spending $750? *ponder*ponder...
I'm screwed so far in AP USH and Physics. Going to be a long 3 hours in May at this rate. So I pass both tests, how many do I got left to enroll as a soph? not nearly enough? need I take college classes? I fret some more...
u college students are probably scoffing and laughing at this puny junior who doesn't appear to have a life.

GIVING IT YOUR ALL
I just read in the newspaper today about a junior who attends Irvington High in Fremont. He has hopes of graduating early (asian, obviously). But the school won't let him because he doesn't have enough credits; he needs 3 more classes, which is surprising because that's what I need. He feels that this decision is keeping him from reaching his full potential. I feel sorry for him and agree with him in a way. Even more similarly, he doesn't give a rip about senior year social events. hmm, i think if this guy wins, i'll give him a call and fight harder. won't happen though. I still am nervous about next year. What happens if I can't get all my classes together? What happens if Arnold doesn't hold to his education reform promises thingies and I end up doing nothing? What about summer school? SAT's?
unlike this guy, who doesn't really want to take classes at ohlone, i'll take college classes anywhere as long as they count for high school and college credit
ANIMAL SUICIDE
Random fact, I've been noticing especially this year that there's a lot more roadkill on the roads. When I was driving on 580 to fair this past summer, I saw what seemed like a raccoon or something on the road, everyday I drove. And Tassajara last week, sick man, had a deer on the side. ughh....and don't talk about betlen...in the last week or two, we've had like 3 squirrels. I almost ran over one yesterday with my front left tire. The worst experience was driving Tassajara a few weeks ago. There was a dead skunk in the middle of the road. Glad that didn't get all over my tire...

THIS SUX
Seems I don't have much homework today, but other stuff is killing me, and my mom's getting all mad at me. Overall, i'm not having a great day. Doesn't help that the A's lost either.

WHAT A LOSER (OF THINGS)
i can hate myself for ever for this. Seems like I am constantly losing stuff. I nearly lost the AC adapter for our keyboard last week, which was recovered this morning. Now, I lost my wallet. Luckily, I switched a few months ago from wallet to PDA so most of my stuff is in my Palm. But I have about $40-50 in Best Buy cards, an Old Navy card, A regal crown club card, and a WWJD Express card!!! Man, i lose soooo much stuff. i'm so screwed now. I was going to go and pick up an 80GB HD today for $50, but I ended up staying home looking for my wallet. geez, all these bad memories are starting to come up when I lost things and searched everywhere and my parents got angry at me. grrr...bad memories...go away...

PALM SOFTWARE CHAMPION
I am so happy now! I got accepted into the Palm Software Champions program. What I do is write a guide on a certain topic, in my case, Palm PDA basics for newbies. The guide includes ebooks, software recommendations, and website links. In turn, possibly hundreds of thousands of people a month will see this page, and I'll also be compensated with a $50 gift certificate every quarter. This is like the most awesome program! I'll post a link when it comes up.
